The traffic shaper can be deployed anywhere where surf speeds suffer on a network due to other users initiating large downloads. In a normal network environment any user can so use up to 90% of the available bandwidth, even if other users are surfing at the same time.
By using the traffic shaper a user can for example, have 25% of the bandwidth in case that altogether 4 users are using internet.
Furthermore the traffic shaper decides, which network services have priority. The normal surfer will for example have priority over users visiting P2P sharing sites.

The SBR75G-TS will be preinstalled and configured for use as a bridge. For use as a basic bridge to regulate bandwidth dynamically, it may be necessary to adjust the download speed (preset to 16MBit) and Upload (preset 1MBit).
The diagram below shows how the maximum bandwidth will be halved when two users simultaneously download from the internet. The same principle applies for uploads.

The traffic shaper can, along side the dynamic adjustment of bandwidth, handle other services individually. To assist this load the pre-configured Firewall settings. The diagram below shows how the four preset groups are handled. The listed bandwidth values in the diagram are examples only. The unit can be reconfigured for any bandwidth value (infinitely variable).

Deployment example 1
A company with 140 employees had in fact good connections to the internet. However the VPN connection to the main office was sometimes slow. By using the traffic shaper with integrated firewall, a VPN rule was defined with second highest priority after HTTP and HTTPS. Because HTTP/HTTPS traffic was only allocated 25% of the available bandwidth enough remained for VPN traffic, which was also prioritised over other services. Furthermore an improvement in network performance was noted after the unit was placed between the server and workstations
Deployment example 2
A school with 1600 pupils had 32 MBit internet connection, but never-the-less the connection was slow when around 300 pupils were simultaneously on the internet. Installing the traffic shaper allowed the bandwidth to be distributed evenly. When 300 pupils surf simultaneously with an average 2 sec delay for downloads(surfing) and an average 20 sec delay for reading (no downloading), gives us a practical figure of roughly 1Mbit per pupil (32768 KBit/30 pupils=1092 KBit). Should a user perform a long download, the network will suffer a negative influence of up to a maximum 1 Mbit. Surf speeds can be further increased when HTTP traffic receives a higher priority over other services by using the integrated firewall.
